Open+, a new service allowing access to the Bruegel Library outside of librarian hours.
In order to allow citizens to access libraries during the week, in the evening and at weekends, the City of Brussels has installed Open+ at the Bruegel Library. i-CITY has contributed to the project as Anne-Gaëlle Dutoit and Bénédicte Galmart - analysts for the Libraries Applications & Public Instruction team - have helped to install this new innovative system and the product comes from the catalogue of a supplier with which i-CITY has concluded a contract this year.
How does the Open+ service work?
First of all, you will have to register with the librarians in order to receive various explanations and to sign the User Charter. Once this is done, all you have to do is go to the library during Open+ hours, scan your reader's card and take advantage of the library's services!
In total, there are no less than 79 hours of opening time available to the public, compared to 33 hours before the Open+ module was installed!
No staff?
Don't worry, you can still borrow books thanks to the automated lending terminals! Also, camera surveillance and a security system have been put in place to ensure that everything runs smoothly.
