The ambitious project of the City of Brussels, aimed at guaranteeing its citizens access to essential services within ten minutes, is now a reality. As a technological partner, i-CITY contributed to the realization of this initiative. This modern and intuitive tool is transforming how residents interact with their city.
An urban ambition turned into reality
The "City in 10 minutes" project is more than just an interactive map; it is a tool designed to improve the quality of life for citizens. This project was born from close collaboration between the City of Brussels and its technological partner, i-CITY.
From the outset, the development of this tool was driven by a common desire to create an intuitive and scalable interface, capable of adapting to the City's requirements. This tool is based on the use of 72 variables from 36 different sources, ensuring a rich and diverse analysis.
The choice of technologies, performance optimization, and the integration of complex functionalities were challenges overcome through team collaboration.
Key functionalities carefully developed
Two modules have been designed and developed:
City in 10 minutes: This feature allows citizens to visualize the services accessible within ten minutes around them. The interactive mapping was carefully designed to offer a seamless experience and quick access to essential information.
Urban Projects: This platform promotes urban transparency by allowing users to track ongoing and future development projects, providing a clear and up-to-date view of the city's upcoming transformations.
These tools are now integrated into the dynamic Geoportal, and their success is largely due to the technical expertise of the teams, who helped overcome challenges throughout the project.
An exemplary collaboration between the City and i-CITY
The collaboration between the technical teams and the City of Brussels was essential to the success of this project. Through a collaborative approach and a shared understanding of the technologies, solutions were found to meet the City's ambitions. This project allowed both entities to work closely together in a spirit of continuous innovation.
A resounding success and promising prospects
Since its launch, the "City in 10 minutes" tool has been a great success with the residents of Brussels, with 800 new users joining the platform to discover nearby services.
The team continues to work on improvements to optimize the tool, particularly regarding mobile compatibility, and plans to enrich the features in the coming months. The full integration of the modules into the BXLGIS platform represents the next major step, further strengthening the commitment to supporting the City of Brussels in its digital transformation.
A success that inspires other cities
The success of the "City in 10 minutes" initiative has not gone unnoticed. Many cities and municipalities are now showing interest in this initiative, and the model could soon be replicated elsewhere.
This project showcases the collective ability to address the complex challenges of urban transformation through innovative digital solutions.
